On October 14, 2018, Polygraph founder and director Fernando Esteves wrote the following when announcing his fact-checker: “Another important detail: Polygraph does not analyze news from other newspapers. Our colleagues’ work, being very relevant, is not our core business. We chose to evaluate and classify, according to a scale, the statements of the protagonists of the news, because they are the proactive agents in spreading untruths in the public space.” Let’s face it, Fernando Esteves and his collaborators have complied: they never analyze the work of their colleagues, and for the most part, being journalists, nor the quality of their own work.
