At least four times, the Regulatory Entity for the Media (ERC) has already addressed the magna question of the legitimacy of journalists in calling someone, under the pretext of the pandemic, a “denier”. On December 9 of last year, about an article in Visão, the ERC considered that since a piece of journalism “refer[ed] to a group of people who either deny the existence of the covid-19 pandemic, or its severity, or the scientific validity of responses to combat the disease”, then the terminology (‘denialists’) was “appropriate and contextualized”.
